MANAGEMENT TEAM

Mr. Kent has over 27 years of experience in delivering technology solutions, bringing strong technical and business experience in developing and implementing enterprise class applications. Before starting Sciformatix, he helped Netflix scale its operations to support the current 7 million subscribers and beyond. Mr. Kent was Head of Bioinformatics at Abgenix, prior to its successful $2.2 Billion acquisition by Amgen. He served as VP of IT & Bioinformatics at biotech company DNA Sciences where his responsibilities included Informatics for research and clinical lab operations. Mr. Kent also previously served in positions at HP and KLA-Tencor. He holds an MBA from Santa Clara University and a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Utah. Dr. Starink brings a strong background in delivering Informatics and lab automation solutions to life science companies, including more than 13 years of management and technical experience in software and hardware engineering. As Director of Lab Bioinformatics & Engineering at Perlegen, Dr. Starink helped the company to deliver on the promise of a “whole genome scan”. Dr. Starink previously served as Director of Lab Bioinformatics at DNA Sciences and also served in positions at Incyte Genomics and Synteni, Inc. He holds a PhD in Applied Physics, as well as a B.S. in Computer Science and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Delft University, the Netherlands. Ms. Candia has more than 25 years of experience in marketing, with strong hands-on experience in leading high-growth business and product strategies. Her expertise spans technology and segment marketing, strategic marketing, branding, marketing communications, advertising and public relations efforts for global and start-up “seed-to-growth” companies. She holds a BA in linguistics from U.C. Davis, an MA in intercultural communications from the Monterey Institue of International Studies and an MS in systems management from the University of Southern California. Mr. Johnson has broad experience in working with national and international companies, having co-founded TempCFO and serving as its CEO, following several years at KPMG and Ernst & Young. He also served as the CFO for the Creed franchise, a $500M multinational enterprise. Mr. Johnson has acted as Interim CFO for more then 30 venture backed technology companies and has been instrumental in several successful mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Johnson is a certified public accountant and holds an MBA from Columbia University. He also holds Series 7 and Series 66 Securities Licenses conferred by NASD.
